SOUTH TURKY reached from Sbg via IST to Adana
Route: Adana - Yumurtalik - Adana - Alanya - Sflike - Side Mavasgat - Kalkan - Kas - Phacelis - Kemer - Antalya
Adana Museum visited, many nice mosaiks from Romans, also Rlwy stn visited, friendly big city with 2,3 mio people.
- Yumurtalik abou 1,5 hrs by minibus from Adana at the coast
has beaches and accomodation, also a small harbour and castle, 2 nights
- Alanya (once Pirates capitel during eastroman empire, nice big castle can be reached in cablecar, 2 nights,
has also reasonable price pensions breakfast incuded, arrival 28. june)
- Sflike (hiked out there till midnight, sadly in wrong direction up the canyon, back forth 20km on bad odd road,
Sflike bussation and taxis was a bid of annoying, also cause they write bustickets themself by hand, so got a stamp on that at midnight. Hiked out annoyied of Sflike before the halfday. Took of shoes and got puzzled by by feet till midnight, will do another 1 000 years as I hiked then about 20 km in flip flops, shoes would have done me a heatstroke, back at night to busstop, )
- Side Mavasgat (passed onway hellsgate, missed Temple near caost cause of bad streetsigns, hiked out of city, Maedchenburg is a rediculose castle on a rock in sea, which does not get reached with any, aslo no motorboats, also as beaches are close, it can be seen vfrom main coastal road onway to Side) -
- Kalkan via Antalya over dayride in bus, more costly and fency but OK, with soem small beaches, busy during footballmatches at
nights (3 nights, 2-4. july)
- Kas with nice antique Theater, renovated with best view over sea and islands, good hotels and penions (3 nights, 5-6-7. july) !
- Phacelis onway to Kemer, missed Demre as it looked like any other bigger city, stone graves can be seen in any bigger village or city.
has nice temples and a gate to the total area of some hectars temples Agore and theater from eastr Roman Times, guess Flavius. Tntrance about 10 euro with schranken (1 afternoon, also at beach)
- Kemer big Rusk and Turkish hotel ressorts and disco laser shows at some hotel roofs. small beach sections per hotel. Prices can be very reasonable with breakfast. With marina and can be seen at nights from Antalya (2 nights, )
- Antalya
Nice and well known int. touri destination. Has costly, fency and also reasonable hotels and penions, with breakfast. Some with remarkable beautifull pergolas. Its airport gets bigger actually. (10- 14 july 2024)
The afternoon after arrival as clouds showed up for cleaning and rain in strong gushty winds people took shelter in streets.
Nature observations:
The day getting to Antalya late afternoon a
falco peregrinus got into the park during late afternoon in the winds, swift and strong flieing into the citypark, close to harbour bay against strong winds, big wings and strong moves, impressing.
Doves were hiding then fast, no seagulls in sight, doves between cars. - SUCCESS -
Later I thought if it was the falcon of some rich arab tourist who took it with him, but guess not.
Some oneday later again a few big seagulls, and a diversity of nice
doves- turtle, laughing, turkish, and less palm doves, also swifts, and mauersegler. Also Dusty crows in parks and Raubfliegen along some heated landstrassen.
Remarks : Sadly I missed to vistit one or two Karawanserais onway. Taxis can get complicated and distances are huge, heat strinking during summers.
Hotels and pensions are remarkable nice, good and clean, also with breakfast and prices can be stunning reasonable. If there is any of that thigs left in Krumau (ceske), Sbg, Budweis or Lubljana, also along lago Balaton .... I can t say. Some years ago I had luck in a hostel in Lubljana, but that was then and that hostel was gone summer 023.
If there are penions to be found without a phone in Krumau old town, no idea.
Gate to Hell got passed on way by bus to Siflike. Maedchenburg is a rediculouse castle on a rock and can be seen from coastal road in the blue sea, no boats move there.
The canyon north up from Sflike can be done by car, less by hiking, heatstrike needs to get averted.
Do not try that in flip flops back and forth 20 km, it can be with misshaps and of very much hardships for some after 300 m. .. in flipflops.
The canyon itself looked inviting, also the river deepdown and should have one of the main routes south from central Turky. Some barbarossa stauffer ist im Fluss by Adana einst ertrunken.

Sflike as other cities along the southcoast got founded by Alexander the Great.
My feet can do it 1000 more years, the rest will be gone for long then.
Nice Antalya beach sand is looking good now in the aquarium, 9kg, baggage limit got exactly reached 23kg.
Backflight from Antalya to IST was in a B -777 300 ER, usually an Ultralongrange plane, guess the touris were that many, that they used that jet for the 1,5 hours to IST, had no winglets. Had last seat in back what was a bid shaky during landing.
Old airport in IST is out of use.
BACK TO ALPS
the last miles in taxi a fox got seen around 11pm the night in the close farmers garage. Then some days leter, guess the same nice
fox again, but in the garden early morning (18th july).
